About Roderick

Roderick Gaines is a Research Director IDC’s Worldwide Supply Chain Strategies Program, responsible for providing research, analysis and guidance on key business and IT issues pertaining to manufacturing, retail, and healthcare supply chains. He currently leads the Worldwide Supply Chain Strategies: Warehousing, Inventory and Order Management practice, providing fact-based research, analysis and insight on best practices and the use of information technology to assist clients in improving their capabilities in these critical supply chain fulfillment areas. This practice specializes in advising clients on warehouse management systems, warehouse control and automation systems, distributed order management systems and more.  Roderick also covers the Wholesale Distribution industry.

Background

With 20 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, Mr. Gaines was previously the Senior Manager, Product Support for Northrop Grumman. In this role he was responsible for managing the entire bill of materials for equipment and materials valued in excess of $500M and labor management value of $200M resulting in a 99.8% availability level of both equipment and support materials. Prior to that, Mr. Gaines had served as the Distribution Center Manager across a multi-site warehouse facility for United States Southern Command. His responsibilities have included overall supply chain operations, inventory control, order management, product storage/rotation, logistics, procurement, cultivation, replenishment and warehouse special projects.
